2010 Australian National Championships

February 5, 2010

clic para version españolThe 4 official classes of radio-sailboats in Australia (A, 10 Rater, Marblehead and IOM) have participated, from January 20 to February 1 in their respective championships , three days per class .

There has been a great struggle in the IOM  class  between two ship designers, J. Byerley (Mad Max, Extreme and Cockatoo) and Graham Bantock (Pikanto, Italiko and Topiko).   Their sails,  Mirage Radio Yachts and  Sailsetc,  also share the top five positions. Almost all boats were sailing with RMG winches.

This is the list of ship designs, sails and winches of the top 16 of the IOM class.

It is conspicuous the Craig Smith absent. He has not participated   in a major event   since the World Cup Marseille 2007.  At home, the best  “Obsession”  is classified at 16 position.

I have prepared some interviews with the IOM class world champions . The title is  “10 Questions to …” . It is just  published the interview with  Zvonko Jelacic (2009) . Others articles about  Brad Gibson, Martin Robert, Trevors Binks  and Graham Bantock  will soon published . I have also sent the questions to Craig Smith (2005) but he  did not answer me.  Surely many of you are aware of the activity of Craig. We appreciate that leave a comment of any information you have .
